Change From Vending Machine, Copper Piping Stolen in Springfield

Springfield Police are investigating a number of recently reported thefts.
- While on patrol in the 600 block of Baltimore Pike on October 24 around 12:30 a.m. a Springfield police officer saw a man "acting suspiciously" around a vending machine in front of Springfield Beverage. When the officer turned around his patrol car the man entered a white pickup truck and fled onto Baltimore Pike, traveling at a high rate of speed heading towards Philadelphia, according to police. The truck was followed and eventually stopped in Lansdowne. The man and a female passenger got out of the truck and fled on foot. The investigation showed that the vending machine had been forcibly entered and an unknown quantity of change had been taken. Further investigation of the area showed another vending machine in front of Jiffy Lube in the 200 block of Baltimore Pike had also been forcibly entered and an unknown amount of change had also been taken.Â
- The Springfield Swim Club in the 300 block of N. Rolling Road reported that sometime between October 17 and 24 someone forcibly entered the shower house and stole the copper piping. The investigation showed that the property had been forcibly entered by prying open a security gate. The building had been forcibly entered by prying the wooden cover off of a window on the corner of the building. The piping is valued in excess of $500.
- A 12 year-old Springfield student reported that sometime between 8 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. on october 25 someone stole her Apple iPhone 4 from her backpack while she was attending the E. T. Richardson Middle School in the unit block of W. Woodland Avenue. The phone is valued in excess of $300.00.
- A resident of the 200 block of Indian Rock Drive reported that sometime during the night of October 25Â someone entered his unlocked shed and stole an Echo backpack blower. The blower is valued at $300.00.
- A resident of the 300 block of Ballymore Road reported that sometime between 1 and 8 p.m. on October 27 someone shattered the rear passenger's side window on her vehicle while it was parked in the rear alley of the home. Â
