Commissioners Honor Four Springfield Heroes

Four Springfield Country Club lifeguards honored by township.

Over the summer, local lifeguards performed life-saving duties on five separate occasions, averting tragedy in the township. Earlier this month, the Springfield Township Board of Commissioners honored those four lifeguards, one whom saved two lives, from the Springfield Country Club swimming pool for their actions.

On Oct. 9 Commissioner Daniel Lanciano (7th Ward) presented the country club for certificates of appreciation on behalf of the lifeguards.

"Springfield's very fortunate to have the kids who come up and work for us. They do a very good job, are very conscientious, and it's really a tribute to these kids and their parents," he said.
