Fire Sparks in Basement of Wells Lane Home
No injuries were reported at a home fire on Wells Lane in Springfield on Sunday afternoon.
responded to 227 Wells Lane at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 5 for a reported dwelling fire.
According to Springfield Fire Co. Fire Chief Robert Woolson, the fire had occurred in the basement of the home. The probable source of the fire came from the electrical box, said Woolson. PECO also responded to the scene to investigate.
Woolson categorized the fire as a "non-suspicious" and "moderate," which had spread from the basement to the first floor living room. The fire was under control around 1:50 p.m., said Woolson.

No injuries were reported. The homeowners were inside the home when the fire occurred, said Woolson.
In addition to the Springfield Fire Co., , , and Holmes Fire Co.'s Rapid Intervention Team responded to the scene.

A portion of Wells Lane at Baltimore Pike was closed during the fire for approximately one hour.
