Marching Band Competition, 'Trunk or Treat' in the Week Ahead

The Springfield Township building will be closed in observance of Columbus Day.
On Thursday the Springfield Library Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the library, 70 Powell Road.
Also on Thursday, the Park and Recreation Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Springfield Township Building.

PSAT Testing will take place at Springfield High School on Wednesday.
On Thursday there will be a Home and School Meeting at 7 p.m. at the Springfield Literacy Center.

"Trunk or Treat" will be held Friday at the Springfield Literacy Center from 6 to 7 p.m.
The Springfield High School "Cougar" Marching Band will host the Cougar Cavalcade Marching Band Competition on Saturday. Over 1,200 marching band members representing  schools from Tri-State area will perform on this night.
The show will begin at 5:30 PM with the presentation of colors and playing of the National Anthem by the SHS Marching Band followed by performances of the visiting bands. The last performance of the evening will be an exhibition by the Springfield High School Marching Band at 9:30 PM featuring their 2013 field show entitled, Currents. The evening will conclude with an awards ceremony honoring all of the evening’s participants including former Drum Majors of the Cougar Band. The marching showcase will be the largest music event of the year. All members of the Springfield and Morton Communities are encouraged and welcome to join us for this exciting event.
Tickets for the event are $10.00 for Adults and $8.00 for Students and Senior Citizens. All Pre-Gate tickets can be purchased for $8.00 by visiting www.springfieldmusic.org  Â
