New Quarry Ctr. Giant Opens Wednesday Morning

There are two in Springfield and several more within a few minutes of the new Giant Food store in the Quarry Center Shopping Center. The area's newest Giant will officially open Wednesday morening at 8 a.m..

The store employs 275 people and features a Starbucks Coffee Shop as well as a cafe that sells and stocks beer and a gas station.

The store will be open 24 hours a day, sevent days a week, sarting at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The store's opening day will be a little different than a typical grocery store's normal day in terms who is on the schedule of special appearances.  Here's the schedule provided by Giant:

• 8 a.m. Ribbon Cutting/Doors open to the public
• 8 a.m.-9 a.m. Mummers entertain (schedule does not specify which Mummers club)
• 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Hershey Characters walk the store to entertain customers
• 8 a.m.-Noon Kellogg's Cereal character Tony the Tiger
• 10 a.m.- Noon The Phillie Phanatic
• 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Rockin; Roxanne the Clown makes balloon sculptures for children.
• 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Oscar Mayer Weinermobile will be parked outside
