UPPER DARBY, PA – A person has died after their car crashed into a SEPTA train on the Media/Elwyn Line train Tuesday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., an outbound Regional Rail train collided with a car at a grade crossing in Secane. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to SEPTA officials.

According to officials, the gates at the grade crossing were working properly and were in the down position when the car entered the crossing.

The crash happened near Bishop Ave between Baltimore Pike and Providence Road, according to Upper Darby Police.

Service on the SEPTA Media/Elwyn Line was suspended until 4 p.m. due to the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
