Springfield Crime Blotter: DUI Crash, Robbery, More

Teens from Rutledge and Upper Darby are being charged with robbery and related crimes after police said they held up a store worker.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township released their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Sept. 15 and Sept. 19.

Sept. 15 at 7:32 p.m.
Officers responded to the 400 block of Baltimore Pike to assist with a male who had fallen off a scooter. They found the male who was intoxicated and said he had been consuming beer at Bertucci’s in Springfield. While helping the male, officers located in his possession a woman’s purse which was later identified as belonging to an employee at Bertucci’s. Investigation revealed the male had stolen the purse while at Bertucci’s. The male, 72, of Lansdowne, was taken to a hospital for treatment, and charges for Public Drunkenness and Theft are pending.

Sept. 15 at 8:51 p.m.
Officers found an unconscious male inside a vehicle on the unit block of North Brookside Road. The male, 37, of Ridley Park, was found to be intoxicated. He was treated and taken to a hospital, and charges for Public Drunkenness will be filed.

Sept. 17 at 5:49 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash on the 300 block of West Woodland Avenue in which a vehicle was on its side, and the driver trapped inside. While assisting the driver out of the car, he was found to be intoxicated. Witnesses reported the vehicle had driven up an embankment and flipped on its side. The male driver, 71, of Turnersville, New Jersey, was transported to a hospital for treatment. Charges for traffic offenses and DUI are pending.

Sept. 18 at 4:28 p.m.
A shopper at Target at the mall reported she had left her pocketbook in the women’s bathroom and by the time she went to retrieve it, it was missing. The pocketbook was later found in the parking lot of Walmart in Marple, and several unauthorized transactions had been charged to her credit cards. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Sept. 19 at 8:03 p.m.
A 37-year-old female from Aston will be charged with Public Drunkenness after she was reportedly inside an Uber vehicle intoxicated. She needed medical assistance and was transported to a hospital.

Sept. 19 at 10:20 a.m.
Officers responded to We Buy Anything, 100 block of Baltimore Pike, for a report of a robbery that had just occurred involving two subjects who had displayed a firearm to an employee. Both suspects ran out of the store when confronted by the employee running towards Netherwood Park. Officers searched the area with the assistance of K-9 and located two suspects laying in a flower bed on a property on the 100 block Netherwood Drive. Both suspects were identified by the witness and taken into custody. A firearm was recovered in the area. A juvenile male from Rutledge and a juvenile male from Upper Darby will be charged with Robbery and related offenses.
