The mission of our Springfield Junior Woman’s club, which started in 1952, is to develop educational, civic and social interests of its members, to advance the welfare of the community and to promote the progress and work of the General Federation of Woman’s Club of Pennsylvania. Our local Springfield chapter is a volunteer organization of women of all “walks of life”: Young mothers just starting out, teachers, career women, women in healthcare, homemakers and retired women. While our name is “Junior” our ages range from young to “mature” but the mission is the same for all of us. To be part of an organization that is involved in promoting and being the face of women who serve our great community here in Springfield.

With that being said, as a woman’s organization it is our privilege to honor young ladies who have already made an impact and mark within their 4 walls of Springfield High School. Every other year we offer a $1,000.00 Doris Monaghan Allied Health Scholarship to the deserving senior pursuing a college career in Allied Health. This year we recognized 4 young ladies who were nominated by their teachers as well as the recipient of the Doris Monaghan award. They are as follows: Faith Dempsey, Maggie Curtis, Anna Mannix, Jasmin Jerry ( Doris Monahan Scholarship recipient) and Emma Bauer. All have made an impact in both their school and communities through volunteer work and community service as well as outstanding academics. Three cheers for all the young ladies and best wishes on their future endeavors.
