Home Break-Ins Under Investigation in Springfield

Two cases in four days have police looking for burglars.

Springfield Police are looking for burglars after two home break-ins last week.

The first case was reported on Wednesday April 10 at 11:47 a.m. when a resident of the unit block of Old State Road reported that someone had forcibly entered a home through the back door.

Police say the intruder damaged the back door and frame.

According to police "the incident was detected by the real estate agent who is showing the home. It appears that the only thing taken from the home was the copper piping in the basement."

In the second case a resident of the unit block of Windsor Circle came home from a week away to discover that, according to a police report, "someone forcibly entered her home by breaking a pane of glass on the front door."

The break-in was reported to police at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the report "once inside the (burglar(s)) ransacked all of the bedrooms and a stole large quantity of jewelry. The victim had been away during that time period."

Both break-ins are being investigated by Springfield Police detectives.
