Springfield Rehab & Healthcare Celebrates Renovation Milestone, Opens State-of-the-Art Dialysis Unit
New Specialty Initiatives Aim to Meet Area Healthcare Demand

Springfield Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is celebrating a key renovation milestone with the opening of its new, state-of-the-art Dialysis Unit. Located at 463 West Sproul Road, the Springfield Township skilled nursing center is undergoing a multi-million-dollar modernization.
Springfield’s six-chair Dialysis Unit, which has the capability to treat patients who are tracheostomy dependent, operates in partnership with Dialyze Direct, one of the nation’s leading providers of home dialysis services in skilled nursing facilities. The new unit complements the skilled nursing center’s chronic kidney disease management program.
“Springfield expanded its footprint to create this new Dialysis Unit – it’s a warm and welcoming space with top-of-the-line technology,” said Danielle Koons, regional vice president of market development, Pennsylvania, for Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports Springfield. “In-facility dialysis was a direct ask from the center’s hospital partners; Springfield is pleased to provide this much-needed service to the community with an excellent partner in Dialyze Direct.”

Renovations at Springfield also featured the recent opening of its new therapy gym. The 3,200-square-foot space features state-of-the-art equipment, including technologies to support the delivery of progressive rehab services. The gym’s spacious activities of daily living (ADL) suite mimics a home environment with a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom – enabling patients the opportunity to regain skills before returning home.
During its modernization, the Delaware County skilled nursing center has continued to introduce physician-led specialty care programming, including Pulmonary Care and OrthoWIN, a highly specialized subacute care program for orthopedic recovery. “Springfield’s programs are quite robust,” noted Koons. “These specialty initiatives were developed to meet area demand and already are seeing strong traction.”
