Holiday wishes and thanks from T&E Care!
Once again the Tredyffrin & Easttown Care holiday drive has been completed and the local community has risen to the task of supporting families in our own neighborhoods. The struggling economy has made it difficult for many families to celebrate the holidays this year.
Donations were requested for specific families (identified by number to preserve confidentiality), and 100% of those requests were honored by our generous and caring community members. Individuals offered a toy for a child or a vacuum for a mom, and some people even sponsored a whole family.

Scout groups and community sports teams, Conestoga High School clubs and sports teams, PTO's, real estate companies, garden clubs, and neighborhoods also came together to run food or toy drives, bake cookies, and even make gorgeous holiday centerpieces for these families.
We had offers of fresh Christmas trees from a local tree distributor. Eight families have been offered tickets to see the Philadelphia Ballet perform the Nutcracker. And complete holiday dinners are being prepared for thirteen families (with another eight having been offered dinners at Thanksgiving as well).

Being part of the Berwyn Tree Lighting Ceremony allowed T&E Care to get additional donations of cleaning supplies which was very helpful in our efforts to give every family a basket of these items.
From the incredible committee chairs who organized the various events, to the drivers who delivered gifts and food, to the groups and individuals who helped run food drives or prepare the meals, to the various groups or individuals who baked over 100 dozen cookies, to the school students who made their own wrapping paper to cover new books to give to other kids, this is a true team effort. Every single offer of help was important and appreciated. We often say how blessed we are to live in such a wonderful community, but at the holiday times this seems to be especially true.

The more community members who are on our email list, the more likely it is that we can find just the right contact when a specific family need arises. We're always looking for connections to help ease a need. With very little effort on your part - that connection may just be you! On behalf of the entire T&E Care board, we wish a very happy holidays to all.
Thanks for caring about your neighbors! Sandi Gorman, T&E Care President
