Bring Spring Cleaning Clutter to Penn State Great Valley Saturday

State Rep. Duane Milne is hosting his annual Shredding, Recycling and Drug Take-Back Day on April 25.

Residents in the Tredyffrin/Easttown area will get a chance Saturday to make headway through their piles of clutter and dispose of it in an environmentally responsible manner.

State Rep. Duane Milne hosts his annual Shredding, Recycling and Drug Take-Back Day on April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Penn State Great Valley’s campus parking lot at 30 East Swedesford Road in Malvern.

Milne, members of his staff, volunteer fire police and an East Whiteland police officer will coordinate as visitors drive through the stations and have the items unloaded for recycling or disposal.

“I am always enthused as this event approaches,” said Milne. “We of course all care about taking care of our most immediate local areas, our homes and yards, but we also concern ourselves with our surrounding environment in the form of our neighborhoods and community.”

The free event will go forward rain or shine. The list of items eligible for drop-off includes paper, hard drives, computers, televisions, small appliances, cell phones, chargers, faded or worn flags, all types of eyeglasses or sunglasses, hearing aids, usable family clothing (in plastic bags or boxes), games, toys, usable kitchenware, sporting goods, books, CDs, videos, OTC drugs and prescription drugs.

Items that cannot be accepted include furniture, large appliances, light bulbs, smoke/carbon dioxide detectors, batteries, needles and epi-pens.

“I encourage anyone with materials that can be discarded, recycled or otherwise repurposed to come by and know you are taking an important action for the betterment of our surroundings and our natural resources,” Milne said.
