BERWYN, PA — As the National Merit Scholarship Corporation released its list of semifinalists from across Pennsylvania, Tredyffrin-Easttown School District came out on top.

Conestoga High School has again reported the most National Merit semifinalists in all of Pennsylvania with 39 on the list released in September. This recognition is based on the students' performance on the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Nationwide there are approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the annual 66 the National Merit Scholarship Program. As the highest-scoring entrants in each state, they represent less than 1 percent of United States high school seniors. The number of semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state's percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.

These academically talented high school seniors will go on to compete for some 7,600 scholarships through the National Merit Corporation or its sponsoring organizations.

On the semifinalist list are: Wyatt Zantua, Charity Xu, Sophia Pan, Stella Lei, Reese Wang, Unnati Gupta, Athira Menezes, Daniel Gergeus, Aditya Sirohi, Dermott Breault, Shresht Sitram, Jeffrey Tan, Umar Samdani, Adam Khalil, Sean Nissenbaum, Hita Gupta, Ashley Zhang, Annie Sun, Audrey Solomon, Hannah Zhang, Paige Munroe, Chloe Williams, Rachel Jin, Katherine Lee, Rachel Pei, Shayl Chetty, Yiyang Yu, Arjun Arasappan, Ramdhan Russell, Jack Semmer, Michael Bagby, Daniel Marshall, Nicholas Rinderle, Claire Youngblood, Julia Wei, Jacob Cho, Michael Dobson, Emma Hopkins, and Joshua Li.
