Crane Lifts New Bridge Into Place
Crews worked all weekend getting the pedestrian bridge up together and up over Valley Forge Road.
Crews spent all weekend assembling a pedestrian bridge on Valley Forge Road near the 202 intersection.
Then late Monday morning, a crane lifted the bridge into place over Valley Forge Road. This was no ordinary crane. A worker told Patch that this crane, which took nine tractor-trailers to transport to the spot, is capable of lifting 500 tons.
Valley Forge Road has been closed for this construction since Friday night and the road was scheduled to reopen by 7 p.m., but Monday night, the road was still closed and the sign was updated to say the road would reopen Tuesday.

A pedestrian culvert was recently installed farther east on the trail, closing South Warner Road in Wayne. The Friends of Chester Valley Trail group posted photos of the culvert on Facebook.
The Tredyffrin Township section is in Phase II of the trail, which extends to Montgomery County and is expected to open in the fall. Phase I is already open in East Whiteland Township, and a third phase heading west to Exton is also planned.
