Fire Breaks Out In Main Line Hospital Operating Room Tuesday
Paoli Hospital is diverting patients to other healthcare facilities due to a fire Tuesday that started in an operating room.
PAOLI, PA — A fire broke out in an operating room at Paoli Hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Main Line Health officials told Patch via email the fire started at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in an operating room.
No patients were injured, but the operating room team was sent to the Emergency Department to be examined and treated for minor injuries, officials said.

Due to the fire, Paoli Hospital is temporarily on divert, meaning patients will be diverted to alternative facilities. That status will be re-evaluated throughout the day, officials said.
"We will work through a root cause analysis to review the response and understand what happened," Main Line Health said in an email. "We will be notifying the appropriate regulatory agencies as required by the patient safety reporting requirements."

Officials commended Paoli Hospital staff for quickly containing and extinguishing the fire.
"We applaud the efforts of the entire team and also recognize our local fire and rescue teams for their quick response," the email read.
