Enjoy Penguin Awareness Day at the Zoo or Aquarium
The Philadelphia Zoo is offering discounts for Penguin Awareness Day.
What better way to celebrate icy cold January than with your favorite Arctic bird?
Penguin Awareness Day is on January 20—so bundle up your kids and take them to the Philadelphia Zoo or Adventure Aquarium to learn more about penguins, a native bird from Antarctica. This is a great opportunity to get everyone out of the house and see penguins in action.
The Philadelphia Zoo is offering $10 off admission for those who dress in their best penguin gear through Monday.

Adventure Aquarium has a 1-week-old African Penguin chick (see photo in the gallery). Right now, the aquarium's penguin exhibit is closed for a few weeks for outdoor construction, according to Kimberly Walker, with Adventure Aquarium's public relations.
However, the aquarium "will be hosting special 'up close' encounters with our African Penguins for guests at select times throughout the day---all weekend long and throughout the exhibit closure, so our guests still have opportunities to see the penguins," according to Walker.
