Identity Thief Cloned Credit Card, Police Say

Three transactions in one minute withdrew $1,200, according to Tredyffrin police.

Tredyffrin police are investigating a reported case of identity theft that occurred earlier this month, according to a report from the department.

The report says that on April 7, a victim from the 200 block of Carriage Court in Wayne claimed his credit card had been cloned. A total of $1,200 was withdrawn in three transactions which occurred a minute apart.

Anybody with information about the alleged crime is asked to contact police at (610) 644-3221.

Other crimes reported by Tredyffrin police include:

April 6, 2015: Police were dispatched to the report of a found wallet. When it was returned to the owner, the owner stated that a credit card in the wallet was fraudulently used to purchase a Greyhound bus ticket.

April 7, 2015: The victim from Cypress Lane in Paoli reported their income taxes were fraudulently filed by unknown persons.

April 8, 2015: A phone scam was reported by multiple residents this date. The caller claims to be from the US Treasury, Magistrate Judge, or the IRS. The area code is 828.

A victim from Burgoyne Court in Wayne reported fraudulent transactions had been made on their credit card. The charges totaled over $220.00. The case is under investigation.

April 11, 2015: Police charged Eric Elliott, 37, of Royersford, in a suspected retail theft of a TJ Maxx store at the Gateway Shopping Center on March 6.

Khalil Broxton, 19, of Malvern was charged with Underage Drinking after he was involved in a cab fare dispute on Lancaster Avenue in Paoli. Police say that while checking his information, they found that he had an active warrant for robbery and was taken into custody and turned over to Pennsylvania State Police.
