Mazie Hall Tot Lot Rebuild-Not 'til Spring

Children's playground was destroyed in summer fire.

It will be next spring before the tot lot at Mazie B. Hall Park in the Mount Pleasant section of Tredyffrin Township is rebuilt.

. The insurance settlement will pay the township $37,000 for the damaged equipment. That is far less than the original damage estimates of $60,000. There will also be costs for removing and siposing of the rubberized ground cover material that requires special handling because it is not biodegradable and was severely burned.

Township officials and the Parks and Recreation Board will need to purchase replacement equipment over the winter months. Township Manager Mimi Gleason says the time needed makes it unrealistic to expect new play equipment could be installed before the spring.

Gleason says the township's costs for a new playground will be covered by the insurance settlement. It would be up to the insurance company to seek reimbursement for the cost of the fire from those charged.
