New Concept in Banking Opens in Gateway

Interact with live tellers through a computerized station that looks similar to an ATM.

Gateway’s newest tenant opened its doors Monday with a new concept in banking.

Conestoga Bank moved out of Chesterbrook and into Gateway Shopping Center. The new branch is Bankwerx concept with no tellers.

The branch looks less like a bank and more like a cross between a coffee shop, an Internet cafe and a very nice ATM kiosk.

Outside the branch, there is an ATM that anyone can use, but inside, there are two kiosks that look similar to ATM machines, but actually link you to a live teller you see on the video screen. The teller will then help you through whatever transaction you need taken care of. These kiosks are available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.

The entire branch is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and offers a live greeter to help you, as well as bankers who can get you started with Conestoga Bank accounts. The location offers free WiFi and a coffee station.

Outside of normal business hour, customers can access the video tellers by swiping their bank card to get limited access to the branch.

Conestoga Bank has other branches in our area, including one in Media. This is the second Bankwerx location. The first one is on Walnut Street in Philadelphia.

A Patch user, J, stopped by the branch Monday and left this comment on a previous story: “I was running errands at Gateway today and stopped by the new location. What a cool looking bank!!”
