Porch Fire Sends Smoke Through Berwyn House
Police officer put out the fire before fire department even arrived.
A police officer armed with a fire extinguisher doused a fire on the porch of a Berwyn home Tuesday night, according to the homeowner's fiance.
The woman told Patch that the fire at 1420 Pennsylvania Ave. broke out around 8:30. She said a piece of wicker furniture on the porch caught fire. She did not know what specifically sparked the blaze.
The woman, who spoke on condition that her name not be published, said Berwyn Fire Company trucks responded quickly but that a police officer was able to knock the fire down with a fire extinguisher from his car just after arriving on the scene.
