Proposed Tredyffrin Tax Hike Cut by Half
Tredyffrin supervisors find other ways to close a projected budget gap.

Last month Tredyffrin Township supervisors were asked to consider a 6.9 percent increase in the millage rate for property taxes. That would have translated to $34 for the average property owner in Tredyffrin.
With less than two weeks left before a final vote on the 2012 Township budget, supervisors have found ways to cut that in half. They are now considering what would amount to an average of $17 for property owners in Tredyffrin.
The change came earlier this week when supervisors discussed a plan to cut spending from earlier proposals and cut the proposed tax increase to 3.5%. Township Manager Mimi Gleason says supervisors found cuts by considering the following measures:

•Pay for IT equipment from reserves instead of operating revenue
•Defer hiring 2 police officers

•A variety of other small tweaks to revenue and expenditures
The 2012 Tredyffrin Township budget will come up for a final vote on December 19.
