School Supply Drive Needs Volunteers, Donations

T & E Care launches effort to help students get what they need for back to school.

Tough economic times and high unemployment are taking an often hidden toll on some students and families in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District. Families of about 150 T/E students need help getting district-required school supplies for the fall.

T&E Care, a local grassroots charity, is launching its sixth annual school supply and backpach drive Monday. The supply drive runs from July 11-31st. In announcing the drive, a T&E press release notes that by "contributing to T&E Care’s school supply drive, you can provide our students with much more than school supplies.  You give peace of mind to the families and boost the confidence of these children as they set out on their first day of the new school year."

The T&E Care School supply webpage puts the cost of all required supplies for  elementary students at about $50 and the cost for middle and high school students at about $100. The group says it will "accept assistance of any type – from a package of pencils to the full list of required supplies for one student.  Gift cards for supplies, first day clothes or shoes, or food for healthy breakfasts are also appreciated."
