SE Postal Facility One Step Closer to Closing

The meeting will be held at Radnor Middle School at 7pm. It's part of the USPS' efforts to close 252 mail sorting facilities in 2012.
The Postal Service needs to trim about $3 billion from its budget in order to survive. The public meeting follows several months of study into the feasibility of closing the Tredyffrin facility and folding its operations into the a giant new mail center near the Philadelphia International Airport.

As TE Patch first reported, the USPS has announced it will not close any of the 252 sorting centers until May 2012. Because the Postal System is owned by the federal government nothing happens without a lot of red tape. After the public meeting there are several more steps that have to be taken before a final decision on closing Southeastern would be made.
Employees Patch spoke to at the facility said the rank and file expect to be transfered to the airport location or retired from the USPS. A USPS spokeswoman told Patch earlier this month that no decision has been made on the future of the Southeastern USPS facility.

The public can learn the results of the consolidation feasibility study during the public meeting from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Radnor Middle School, 150 Louella Avenue, Wayne, PAÂ 19087.
