According to a report in the Chester County Daily Local, the company which owns Syms and Filene's Basement stores notified the pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry that it will lay off 23 employees from the store in Tredyffrin Township on January 9, 2012.

The Syms website says the store is now offering discounts of up to 40% on an all sales are final basis. Everything, including the fixtures is up for sale inside the warehouse-like building just off Swedesford Road.

According to the website for the law firm handling the legal aspects of the bankruptcy, Syms officially filed for bankruptcy earlier this month and stopped trading stock on the NASDQ stck exchange of November 15.

For now, holiday bargain hunters could be the winners. The store at 1340 Swedesford Road carries women's and men's clothes, shoes and accessories.
