So, Which is Better... The Book or the Movie?

Library launches summer movie series that's like a book club-wth a twist.

Short stories have long been fodder for Hollywood screen writers. The classic question for stories that are turned into movies has always been: which is btter the book or the movie?

This summer the is hosting a series of movie nights that let you answer the question with other reading and movie fans. 

The Short Stories to Big Screen series launched Tuesday night with a screening and discussion of Alfred Hitchcock's classic film Rear Window starring Jimmy Stewart and Philadelphia's favorite princess Grace Kelly.

There are three more 6:30p.m.movie screenings scheduled for the summer: Field of Dreams on July 5th; Smoke Signals on July 19th; Brokeback Mountain on August 2nd.

If you just said to yourself "i didn't know those were based on short stories" you'll enjoy reading the stories and talking about the movies. And if you did know where the ideas for the movies came from you'll have a chance to discuss the films over snacks in a post-screening discussion led by two local film buffs.
