Sugartown Road Bridge Now Open

If you had to drive around the detour when you left home this morning, yes, you really can drive over the bridge now.

The stripes are painted, the detour signs are down and the Sugartown Road Bridge is open to traffic once again.

After months of closures and detours the new bridge was opened without fanfare Friday morning. By 2 p.m. crews were removing the last of the detour signs. It's a day many local residents and commuters have been waiting for for months.

The project ran into a few complications with buried gas and utility lines making it tough to anchor guardrails on the approaches to the small bridge over Ridley Creek. Despite the delays, the bridge opened on the day PennDOT had promised.
