Tredyffrin Township Policy: No Alcohol In Parks
The supervisors updated an 1979 ordinance, allowing alcohol only at daytime township events approved by the board of supervisors.

TREDYFFRIN TWP — Tredyffrin Township supervisors Monday set in stone its alcohol policy when updating ordinance prohibiting the sale or consumption of alcohol in township parks.
The ordinance, however, permits alcohol consumption of individuals age 21 and above at township community events with the proceeds benefiting the township and approved by the board of supervisors.
The seven-member board agreed unanimously to adopt an updated ordinance, noting the original ordinance was passed in 1979.
Supervisor Matt Holt, vice chairman, said the supervisors rarely host events with alcohol, and that alcohol is only provided during the day festivities.
David Miller, board member said he has spoken to some residents about the issue.
Other items in the updated ordinance include:
- Parks are open between 6 a.m. and dusk, unless a permit is issued for activities in a lighted area.
- No one is permitted to leave or enter a park except at designated entrances.
- No gambling is permitted without a game of chance license provided by the state Department of Revenue.
- No person is allowed to solicit money.
- No pets are allowed to run lo0se without registering the dog with the township, and excrement must be collected by the handler.
- No one except police officers are allowed to carry, possess or discharge weapons in the parks.
- No fires are allowed in the parks.
- Playing golf or hitting balls in parks are prohibited.
