Tredyffrin's Newly Formed Historical Commission Wants You

The call is out for two people: a certified architect and someone with an interest in history.

is looking for two volunteers to serve on the township's newly established Historical Commission. A posting on the township website says the board needs a certified architect and a second volunteer with an interest in history, archeology, or historic preservation.

As seen on banners throughout the township, Tredyffrin dates back more than 300 years to its founding in 1707 and beyond. A list of current historic sites and structures in the township can be found by clicking here.

According to a posting on the Township's website, The Historical Commission advises township supervisors and managers on "matters concerning the preservation of historic resources." Any work requiring a permit that is performed on protected historic sites must be approved by the commission. The commission replaces a panel formerly known as the Historic Architecural Review Board.

The commission meets formally on a once a month basis in the Township Municipal Building. At full membership there are nine members of the commission and one township supervisor (currently at-large Supervisor Mike Heaberg) who serves as liason to the Board of Supervisors.

Anyone interested in the positions should submit a resume to: tredyffrin@tredyffrin.org.
