Trick or Treat Event Still on in Tredyffrin

Tredyffrin Police are sponsoring a Halloween Costume Open House/Safety Check open house event Wednesday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at the Tredyffrin Township Muncipal Building.

Public safety officials will be on hand to suggest anything that might improve your child's costume in terms of being seen or being able to see to get around as night falls on this Halloween.

They'll also be giving out treats.

It was supposed to be a two day event, but Sandy forced cancellation of Tuesday's sesssion.

In terms of whether trick or treating is "on" of postponed in the township tonight, that's a decision being left to individual parents and local neighborhoods.

The Township has no evacuations or declarations of emergency in effect for this evening so there is no force of law behind saying yes or no.

Tredyffrin Police Chief Tony Giaimo told Patch that common sense and safety should be the guiding factors. If trees or power lines are down in your neighborhood, police suggest postponing trick or treating until the debris is picked up and the danger from downed power lines is cleared.

While it should go without saying, public safety officials remind parents to accompany children as they trick or treat and to be safe. No piece of candy is worth risking injury.
