Valley Forge Turnpike Update
Thomas Road in Tredyffrin Township remains closed until mid-winter.

TREDYFFRIN, PA —Thomas Road, between Walker and Richards roads in Tredyffrin Township, will remain closed until mid-winter as part of an ongoing $117 million project to widen the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Thomas Road overpass has been closed since early October for the demolition of the existing overpass and construction of abutments and the foundation for the new bridge.

Thomas Road is the main road to get to Gulph Road entrance of Valley Forge National Historic Park. It is also used as a cut through for motorists in the Phoenixville area to drive to King of Prussia and Philadelphia.
Motorists are required to take detours on to Gulph and Glen Hardie roads to get out of the residential neighborhood.
When reopened, Thomas Road will be limited to a signal-controlled, alternating single lane of traffic through the road.
Valley Forge Service Plaza
On the eastbound side of the turnpike, adjacent to the Valley Forge Service Plaza, Tredyffrin Township, crews continue the installation of a new stormwater drainage system along with excavation and grading for the large sediment basin at the western end of the project.
Paving of the Service Plaza on and off ramps has begun and will be completed in the spring.
Also on the eastbound side, retaining wall construction, and drilling and grouting for ground improvements continue.
Noise wall construction is underway on the westbound side of the turnpike.
Periodic lane closures may be in place on both U.S. Route 422 and North Gulph Road during bridge construction.
Construction during this stage, which will continue through the winter months as conditions permit, is expected to take place Mondays through Fridays between 6:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. p.m.through August 2023.
No long-term lane restrictions are expected on the turnpike during this stage, but occasional night time lane closures may occur occasionally as needed.
Motorists are advised to adhere to posted work zone speed limits and to remain alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the work areas.
