Wolf Declares Disaster Emergency for Pa.

More than a foot of snow is possible for the region, the National Weather Service said.

Gov. Tom Wolf has declared disaster emergency in Pennsylvania.

“A severe weather event is impacting the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, causing dangerous winter weather conditions including snow and ice accumulation,” the Proclamation of Disaster Emergency signed by Wolf Monday afternoon reads.

“The emergency event is of such magnitude or severity as to render essential the Commonwealth’s supplementation of county and municipal efforts and resources and the activation of all applicable state, county and municipal emergency response plans,” the declaration continues.

The declaration will “enable authorities to respond as quickly as possible to snow conditions,” Wolf said in a Tweet.

More than a foot of snow is possible for the region through Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.

A Winter Storm Warning is in place for Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, while a less-dire Winter Weather Advisory is in place for Chester County.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in place for the region.
