Montco Man With 'Unforgettable' Humor ID'ed As Boating Accident Victim
Sean Patrick Hagerty, 26, died after his small canoe capsized while he was fishing last week.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The man who died in a boating accident last week on the Schuylkill River in Pottstown has been identified as a 26-year-old Dresher resident.
The coroner's office said Sean Patrick Hagerty, 26, died after his small canoe capsized while he was fishing.
The Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death to be an accidental drowning. Hagerty's body was located on June 2, a day after he went missing.

Hagerty was a 2016 graduate of Upper Dublin High School, according to his obituary. He was a 2018 graduate of the Universal Technical Institute, and worked for seven years as a diesel mechanic with the Danella Plymouth Fleet.
"Sean loved spending time outdoors and was drawn to anything mechanical, cars, boats, engines - anything he could take apart and rebuild with his hands. More than anything, his love for his family and friends was the truest part of who he was. He had an extraordinary way of showing up for the people he loved. His loyalty was unwavering, his smile contagious, and his humor unforgettable," his obituary said.

The other fisherman who was with Hagerty when the boat capsized was able to safely reach shore.
