Eastern Culinary Student Volunteers at Upper Dublin Ed Foundation Day
Eastern Center for Arts and Technology Culinary student and Upper Dublin High School student Donovan Calhourn helped prepare fruit kabobs for the UDEF Day.

The Upper Dublin Education Foundation (UDEF) Day took place on May 15 at George’s Dreshertown Shop ‘N Bag, located at 1650 Limekiln Pike located in Dresher. The event featured
Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (Eastern) Culinary Arts and Upper Dublin High School junior, Donovan Calhoun, who volunteered with Hatboro-Horsham juniors, Caitlin Goodspeed and Lauren Bissig and Eastern Student Success Aide Cori Sansalne, during the UDEF Day to prepare dishes such as fruit Kabobs.
According to an Eastern press release, Shop ‘n Bag donates a large portion of the day’s receipts to the Upper Dublin Education Foundation, a non-profit community organization whose exclusive educational and charitable purpose is to support programs for the benefit of students in the School District of Upper Dublin.

“Our students really enjoy being a part of this event,” Kevin Reilly, EASTERN’s Assistant Director, said in the release. “It is a fun way to support one of our fantastic participating school districts.”
Eastern’s Culinary Arts program enables students to acquire a variety of skills including soup and sauce preparation, preparation of meat, fish and poultry entrees, baking, kitchen sanitation, purchasing and inventory controls. Students in Eastern’s Culinary Arts program can receive up to nine credits at Montgomery County Community College; up to 14 credits at Bucks County Community College; and up to nine quarter credits at Johnson and Wales University.
