Historic Highlands to Hold Golf Fundraiser

The eighth-annual Mona McLean Memorial golf outing supports the Highlands Mansion and Gardens.

The Highlands Mansion and Gardens is an historical site in Montgomery County, whose construction was completed in 1796.

The purpose of the initial 200-acres mansion and gardens was to be a refuge from the yellow fever epidemic at the time. Since 1975, the grounds have been considered an historical treasure and are preserved to undergo continuous restoration by the Highlands Historical Society.

Today visitors can appreciate the 44-acre historic site with its late 18th-century Georgian mansion and two-acre formal garden.

As part of the society’s fundraising efforts, it will hold its eighth-annual Mona McLean Memorial Golf Outing, June 8.

A unique aspect that may separate the society’s golf outing fundraiser from other similar events, the Mona McLean Memorial Golf Outing will take place on two private courses on the properties of Frank Carey and Harriet and Ron Lassin.
