Ambler, PA — Back-to-school season brings a mix of excitement and nerves — for students, parents and staff alike. Thankfully, Ambler is home to everyday school heroes who help make the transition smoother and the school year a little brighter.

From teachers and tutors to bus drivers, cafeteria staff, crossing guards and more, these caring individuals bring steady support and positivity to our schools. To recognize their many contributions — big and small — Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to salute the unsung heroes of back-to-school.

Jim is a crossing guard who includes making each child feel special along with getting them safely across the street.

How do you know the school hero you’re nominating?

Before he got the crossing guard job we walked every morning. But now he has his dream job and I only see him when I drive by. He has lots of joyful stories to tell about the kids, their younger siblings and the parents. I know he loves and is loved by them.

What should your community know about this person?

Jim Tolliver is a happy presence in the day for every kid who travels his cross walk. Every child can use one more adult who cares about them, and Jim does that.

Responsible, caring, cheerful
