UPPER DUBLIN, PA — A police officer from this eastern Montgomery County community is being recognized for helping to save the life of a woman suffering from cardiac arrest earlier this year.

Upper Dublin Police Officer Donnie Thomas was given a Commendation for Lifesaving early last week for performing CPR on resident Cris Lyon back on Jan. 13 when the woman was suffering a medical emergency, according to the police department.

Thomas helped keep Lyon stable until paramedics from Ambler Ambulance arrived at the woman's home.

In early March, the Upper Dublin Police Department said that Lyon and her husband, Michael, who had called 911 when his wife was suffering cardiac arrest, stopped by the police department headquarters to visit Thomas and other officers who had been involved with the emergency call.

The couple had lunch with members of the B Platoon on March 4, according to the department.

According to a past article on the website Around Ambler, Thomas was one of three new patrol officers hired in Upper Dublin back in the summer of 2018.

Thomas, according to the story, is a Bucks County native who studies criminal justice at Temple University and worked as a SEPTA transit officer before being hired in Upper Dublin.
