Staffing Shortages Shuttering Upper Dublin Community Pool

UPPER DUBLIN TOWNSHIP, PA — This may be the final weekend to make a splash in the Upper Dublin Community Pool.

Officials have announced that the community pool will be closing early this summer due to staffing shortages.

The pool typically remains open on weekends in August through Labor Day. But officials said that won't be possible this season.

"Due to significant staffing shortages, our last confirmed day of operation will be Sunday, Aug. 17," pool officials said. "Nearly all of our seasonal staff are college-aged and will be returning to school, leaving us without the personnel necessary to safely open the facility. This was not an easy decision. Our Parks & Recreation team explored every option to maintain weekend operations through the summer but ultimately could not secure the staffing needed to do so safely and responsibly."

While pool officials are shooting for a final summer weekend, there are no guarantees the pool will have a final day on Aug. 17.

"It’s possible that we may be unable to open that weekend at all, or may have reduced operational hours," pool officials said. "We understand how disappointing this is and sincerely apologize for the change. We are already working toward more sustainable staffing options for the 2026 season."
