MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Todd Stephens, who has represented the 151st Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the past 12 years, announced that he is running for reelection to his seat.

Stephens, a lifelong Montgomery County resident, represents a district that includes Horsham, Montgomery and Upper Dublin Townships, as well as Ambler Borough.

"It's an honor to serve our community in the State House and I look forward to sharing my record of accomplishments and vision for the future with voters ...," Stephens said in a statement. "Our nation and commonwealth have endured a time of great division, fear and uncertainty. It is important that our elected leaders put rhetoric aside and restore civility to the political discourse. We must set a positive example for our neighbors and children."

Stephens, a Republican, said he has always been an independent voice in the legislature who puts the needs of the community above partisan politics.

Critical issues in his district that he cited as priorities moving forward include the continued rebuilding due to damage from Hurricane Ida, the future of the former Willow Grove Naval Air Station, and improvements to local roads and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

"Working together, we've accomplished some great things," Stephens said in his statement. "I look forward to building upon those successes to ensure our community remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family."

Before getting elected to office, Stephens worked as a Montgomery County assistant district attorney and as a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania working in sex crimes, major crimes and gun crimes, according to his official biography.

Stephens credits himself with leading the effort to improve Pennsylvania's child protection laws following the Penn State University/Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal, and he says he supported criminal justice reforms designed to reduce recidivism and improve the criminal justice system.

Stephens says he has also been a leading voice in working to eliminate harmful PFAS from drinking water, which has been an issue in communities within his district, in Horsham Township in particular.

He said he has also been a strong supporter of ensuring a quality education for students, protecting children from abuse and combating domestic violence.
