Upper Dublin Parks and Recreation to Host Herb Window Box Event

The Montgomery County Master Gardeners will demonstrate how to make a an herb garden that fits right outside your window.

There may quite possibly be few things more refreshing on a sweltering summer’s evening than gulping down a few glasses of home-brewed iced tea — save, perhaps, adding your very own home-grown mint leaves to enhance the already cool drink.

While there are a wide variety of herbs one can grow, such gardens need not a large plot of land to grow. In fact, they grow well in just about anywhere with a lot of sun … say outside a window?

If creating your very own window herb garden interests you, Upper Dublin Parks and Recreation will host just such an event on May 15, from 7 – 9 p.m. at the township building, located at 801 Loch Alsh Ave. in Fort Washington.

The Montgomery County Master Gardeners will facilitate the instructional class. According to the Montgomery County PSU extension website, growing herbs is one of the easiest and rewarding forms of gardening, as many herbs will thrive on their own.

In addition to having fresh herbs at the ready for an awaiting recipe, some herbs also have medicinal properties or wonderfully aromatic ones, the website shares.
