Upper Dublin Scheduled To Open Storm Permit Center In Front Of Damaged Township Bldg.

UPPER DUBLIN, PA — Local residents and contractors working on storm-damaged homes will soon have a place to visit to drop off repair permits in the community.

Upper Dublin Township announced that it is opening a storm permit center starting Oct. 11 at 8 a.m. in front of the damaged government municipal complex at 801 Loch Alsh Avenue.

The temporary permitting center will give residents and contracts a place to drop off storm-related repair applications.

The township says the application process for storm-related replace-in-kind permits (not alterations) will be expedited and some permits may even be issued the same day as the drop-off.

The operating hours of the permitting center are currently scheduled to be Mondays between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.; Wednesdays between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Fridays between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.; and Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

If residents and contractors are unable to drop by during those specified hours they are encouraged to make an appointment to meet with local code officials by calling 215-416-3600, and it is being asked that appointments be made at least 24 hours in advance.

"It is understood that many residents are in negotiation with their insurance companies regarding settlements and may have building plans that require consultation and/or quick review," the township's website reads. "Code officials will make every effort to assist residents through this process."

Upper Dublin Townships was one of the hardest hit municipalities in Montgomery County impacted by storms that were spawned by Hurricane Ida back on Sept. 1.

Some residents lost their homes, a couple of local schools sustained extensive damage and the township's municipal building had its roof torn off during a tornado, forcing government offices and the police department to temporarily relocate while repairs are made.
