Montco Commissioners Approve $333K Grant For Wissahickon Trails Land Acquisition
The grant dollars are expected to help Wissahickon Trails purchase a 12.1-acre property in nearby Whitpain Township.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — County commissioners have approved a $333,000 grant for the Upper Dublin Township-based advocacy group Wissahickon Trails to go toward the acquisition of a 12.1-acre parcel in land in neighboring Whitpain Township, according to media reports.
The nonprofit organization is looking to purchase a Lewis Lane property consisting of a residential dwelling and two outbuildings, a parcel that is valued around $2.72 million, according to an article in the Lansdale-based newspaper The Reporter.
The article says that Wissahickon Trails is expected to also try and obtain additional grant funding through Whitpain Township and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, with the hopes of eventually raising around $1 million, which would be paired with the $1.2 million privately raised so far through donations.
