Woman Who Killed Husband, Threatened Son Found Dead In Schuylkill River: Authorities

Her husband was found shot in bed and her son wrestled a gun from her hands, authorities said.

UPPER DUBLIN, PA — The body of a woman who killed her husband and threatened her son at gunpoint in Montgomery County was found floating in the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, according to authorities.

The deceased were identified as 57-year-old Tonya Dupree of King of Prussia and her husband, 62-year-old Robert Dupree Sr., authorities said in a news release published Sunday by the Montgomery Country District Attorney’s Office. Officials are characterizing the situation as a murder-suicide and attempted murder, according to authorities.

Police were called around 9:30 a.m. Saturday to a FedEx warehouse in Upper Dublin after Tonya Dupree’s son told police his mother called him out of work and pointed a gun at his head in her vehicle, authorities said. The son wrestled the gun from his mother and she fled, according to authorities, who said the firearm was recovered.

Around 10:15 a.m., police conducted a welfare check at the Dupree home and found Robert Dupree shot dead in bed, authorities said. A little over an hour later, Tonya Dupree was discovered dead in the Schuylkill River near the 4500 block of Kelly Drive in Philadelphia, according to authorities.
