Longtime Willow Grove Resident And Former Upper Moreland Highway Dept. Worker Dies At 87

Alfred D. Messina, 87, died Sept. 19. He was an Army vet, longtime Willow Grove resident, and former Upper Moreland Highway Dept. worker.

WILLOW GROVE, PA — A longtime local resident and former Upper Moreland Township Highway Department employee has passed away.

Alfred D. Messina died on Sept. 19 at the age of 87.

Messina was a longtime Willow Grove resident who had retired after a career working in the highway department for Upper Moreland Township, according to his obituary.

Messina is survived by his wife, Catherine G. Messina; sons Alfred M. Messina, Edward D. Messina and James A. Messina; daughters-in-law Sandra, Kathryn and Christina; brother Joseph Messina; nephew Jeffrey Messina and his wife, Dawn; along with six grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Messina was a retired U.S. Army veteran.

A memorial mass will be held on Sept. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. David RC Church at 316 Easton Road in Willow Grove. A visitation at the church will be held prior to the mass from 9:30 to 10:15. Interment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a date yet to be announced.
