Upper Moreland Woman Steals from Sister, Gets Probation

UM sister takes cash, bonds, and personal documents from sister.

Sisters are for life, but sometimes "water" is thicker than blood.

According to a report in PhillyBurbs, Bethany J. McCurdy, 39, of the 2500 block of Horsham Road, will also have to pay $1,905 in restitution and serve three years of probation as part of the sentence she received last week after pleading guilty to a charge of receiving stolen property. The property, was that of her sister's, also of Upper Moreland.

The charges stemmed from a report the sister entered on Sept. 9, 2011 when a "box contain[ing] cash, savings bonds, jewelry, old photographs and personal documents, including Social Security cards and birth certificates belonging to the sister’s family members," said the report. The box was found and returned on Oct. 5, 2011, after police received a call from McCurdy’s live-in boyfriend, who found the items when he was moving her out of his home.
