I hope you have been seeing the news about our exciting transition to a new catalog – one that will enhance your library experience.

Before you get to try out the new catalog system, the old catalog will be unavailable starting on January 7 so that we can launch the new system on January 12. From January 7 to 11, you will not be able to place holds on physical materials, access your online account or search for items in the catalog.

Although you won’t be able to place holds on physical items from January 7 to 11, your existing holds will carry over to the new system. And we can still help you find something to read or watch while the system is down. Come in and tell us what you like, and we’ll find something that we hope will interest you.

You won’t be able to access your account – and neither will staff at the service desk. We won’t be able to see your library card number, what you have checked out, your due dates or your PIN. But don’t worry, library staff can check out items at the service desk without a PIN.

We also won’t be able to renew your items or pay fines on your account. But no items will be due while our system is down from January 7 to January 11, and no new overdue fines will be charged during the month of January.

Please note that any lists saved in your online account will not transfer to the new catalog system. If you want to save them, print, email or screenshot your lists by January 6.

Although you won’t be able to search our catalog, library staff will be able to. Just ask any staff member – we’ll be happy to help you find what you’re looking for.

You won’t notice any interruption to cloudLibrary, hoopla or library computers.

To check out books and DVDs, bring your library card or a photo of your library card. Where kiosks are available, you will be able to check out items with just your card number, but you must know your PIN.

You can also return items as you normally would. We will not check in any books from January 7 to 11. But they will get checked in, and no new overdue fines will be charged in January.

If you have any questions during the transition, the staff at your library will be here to help.

Pat H.
