UPPER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The Upper Southampton Township Police Department is alerting residents to beware of an IRS scam.

As tax season is in full swing, scammers attempt to steal personal and financial information by impersonating the IRS, police said.

Police are asking residents to stay vigilant.

Police said the IRS will never:

  • Call, text, or email you demanding immediate payment.
  • Request payment via gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers.
  • Threaten arrest, deportation, or suspension of licenses.
