IRS Scam Warning Issued In Upper Southampton Twp.

UPPER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The Upper Southampton Township Police Department is alerting residents to beware of an IRS scam.

As tax season is in full swing, scammers attempt to steal personal and financial information by impersonating the IRS, police said.

Police are asking residents to stay vigilant.

Police said the IRS will never:

• Call, text, or email you demanding immediate payment.
• Request payment via gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers.
• Threaten arrest, deportation, or suspension of licenses.

What You Should Do:

• Ignore suspicious calls, texts, or emails.
• Verify any IRS-related notices by calling 1-800-829-1040 or visiting IRS.gov.
• Report scam attempts to the IRS at phishing@irs.gov or call 1-800-366-4484.
• File early to reduce the risk of tax fraud.
