Manhattan Bagel is Eagerly Serving Delicious Bagels and Kindness to the Local Community
When the new Manhattan Bagel in Southampton is bustling with customers, owner Ross Gelman is at his best.
From bagels and coffee to breakfast sandwiches and snacks, Gelman's Manhattan Bagel has something for everyone stopping in. Whether it’s before the morning commute, a late breakfast, or an after-school snack, the freshly revitalized shop is all about community and family!
Right now, Ross is gearing up for the Wednesday, May 31 Grand Opening. “There is sweat, tears, and constant work, and all I want is to watch this shop succeed and grow. This store is our
fourth baby, so it is like raising a child.”

On May 31, at 8 am breakfast lovers will head to the new Manhattan Bagel located at 707 Street Road, (the North East corner of Street Road and Second Street Pike), for an exciting day of prizes, which include coupon books to the first 100 customers for free breakfasts for a year, and country radio WXTU-92.5 Luke Bryan ticket give-a-way for a special Friday, June 23 concert in at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, N.J. Ten pairs of tickets will be given out. And the day's festivities include much, much more.
After 16 years in the bagel business, Ross and his father, Ilyas, have a great deal of experience in providing high-quality products and exemplary customer service.

Ross said that he and his father love working together at all four of their Manhattan Bagel locations. “There is nothing better than when you can spend priceless time with your family and enjoy doing what we do,” his father explained.
The family opened its Willow Grove location of Manhattan Bagel in 2007, North Wales in 2015, Richboro three years ago, and the latest Southampton location had a soft opening in January. Ross and his family are eager for everyone to enjoy the Grand Opening festivities.
Among the many aspects of his bagel shop that Ross appreciates is that “all of our products are fresh; nothing is frozen.”
He adds that “This goes for our bagel sandwiches with fresh eggs and meat on a New York-style water bagel. Everything – the bagels, cream cheese, sandwiches, muffins, and our coffees are all wonderful. We never sacrifice quality for speed!”
On Mother’s Day, local families kept the employees busy with their sandwich orders for mothers and grandmothers alike. Many families provided for their extended groups with Manhattan Bagel fare.
One happy Richboro mom and grandmom, Myra Dukat, and her longtime friend, David Lenzner, enjoyed sesame bagels with cream cheese before heading to her daughter’s home for Sunday family dinner.
Dukat, a frequent customer at the new location, has tried other area bagel shops, but said, "Honestly, I prefer the Manhattan Bagel’s New York style. My favorite is lox and cream cheese on a toasted bagel for breakfast.”
Twelve-year-old Haven Hamilton, an avid Philly sports fan, came to the shop for a cranberry muffin and a strawberry banana smoothie -- a frequent favorite of his. Haven also introduced his friend, Ian Lackman, to the delicious combination. “I like it here. The food is really good, Haven said. “My parents bring me here, a lot.”
As a business owner, Ross is well aware of the importance of connecting with the community and as such he has partnered with a local organization, Autism Cares Foundation, (ACF), and will hold a special fundraising event for the non-profit on Thursday, June 29.
A portion of the proceeds from all sales that day, including gift cards, will be donated to the non-profit Autism Cares Foundation.
Executive Director Jacqui Makowski says that Autism Cares Foundation truly appreciates the generosity of the community and its new neighbor, Manhattan Bagel. “We would not be able to provide all of the programs and activities that we do, without the support of donors -- so, we are extremely thankful.”
With the population being served growing up, there is a vast age span in which to provide activities, from young kids to teens and those 21 and older.
Also, with 1 in 36 school-age children diagnosed with autism, according to national CDC statistics, the needs are even greater.
Gelman also provided 250 bagels for the May 6 Autism Cares Foundation Race 4 Resources held at Bucks County Community College and Tyler State Park. More than 1,000 community members and their families participated in the fun-filled event featuring a walk, 5K, and resources expo.
"Our Race 4 Resources provides critical funds that make it possible for us to continue to support individuals and families in the community," Makowski adds. "We are grateful that Ross Gelman and Manhattan Bagel were so receptive to the idea of helping our mission."
Eve Brog was at Manhattan Bagel for lunch on Mother’s Day and the now Sarasota, Florida, resident bemoans not being able to come to the Southampton location daily. She was in town for her daughter Sarah’s joyous wedding
“The bagels are better here than anywhere else,” the happy customer explained. “My family loves the delicious coffee and anytime I am visiting family I head right here. The staff is extremely polite, the service is great, and I already know the food is great!”
