Upper St. Clair Man Among March of Dimes Honorees

John C. "Jack" Mascaro received a Service to Humanity Award.

The West Penn Division March of Dimes has announced the honorees for its 2013 Transportation, Building & Construction Awards. The awards honor the leaders and architecture from the public and private sectors of transportation, building and construction industries.

Among this year's honorees is Upper St. Clair Township's John C. "Jack" Mascaro, chairman of the Mascaro Construction Company. Mascaro received the organization's Service to Humanity Award at a ceremony at The Westin Convention Center on Tuesday.

The awards ceremony is designed to raise funds for March of Dimes, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The organization's mission statement is, "We help moms have full-term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies."

A committee of industries leaders selected the 2013 honorees to be recognized for their achievements and for their efforts to promote economic development within western Pennsylvania.

According to the Allegheny County government website, the Mascaro Construction Company has, under Jack's direction, "grown to be Number 203 on Engineering New Record's Top 400 Contractors, Number 57 on ENR's Top 100 Green Contractors, Number 109 on Design-Build's Top 250 Design Build Firms, and Number 7 on Pittsburgh Business Times' 25 largest Pittsburgh-area Construction Contractors."

Jack is a member of the county's Allegheny Green Team.
