Amazon has opened a new facility in the Pittsburgh area that will have a regional impact. Get the details here.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Amazon has opened a new same-day delivery distribution warehouse in Imperial that will serve a wide swath of Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
The new 191,000 square-foot facility, which employs about 100 people, will enable sorting and delivery from a single location. It will serve the Greater Pittsburgh area, including Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington and Westmoreland counties as well as extending west to Wheeling, West Virginia, north to New Castle and East Liverpool and east to Greensburg.
The warehouse will employ advanced robotics technology to bring Amazon's traditional one- or two-day delivery service down to hours, according to Maura Kennedy, Amazon's head of economic development in Pennsylvania.
