1 Injured, Warminster Warehouse Destroyed In Blaze: Reports

Crews worked overnight to cool hot spots in a fire that started Friday afternoon at the Seafood America warehouse.


WARMINSTER, PA — One was injured and a local warehouse burned to the ground in a fire that smoldered for hours on Friday afternoon and overnight.

Warminster and Hartsville fire companies arrived on the scene around 4 p.m. to find the one-story Seafood America warehouse at 645 Mearns Road on fire. Numerous mutual aid companies were called in to respond, as well as the Warminster Township Police Department and Central Bucks Emergency Medical Services.

The fire department said that, upon arriving on the scene, firefighters found that one worker had been injured.

Then, as they began to fight the fire inside the large structure, crews were alerted by mutual aid responders that the structure was showing signs of collapse.

"The heavy fire load weakened the roof structure and crews were forced to move operations to defensive as the roof collapsed," the Warminster Fire Department wrote in an account of the blaze.

Fire crews were at work for hours after the roof collapse.

"Throughout the evening and overnight hours crews worked to cool hot spots while mutual aid companies from far and wide responded to other incidents in the township and covered the region," the fire department wrote. "Additionally we are thankful for the many local residents and businesses that supported our crews with food and water."

The facility was confirmed destroyed after the blaze, and the Seafood America location is temporarily closed.
